Making badges

Using photoshop I sucessfully created a badge and an image wich I have used fo my twitter mage diplay image.

Typography

The fonts used on my website are,
Bank Gothic

Arial

I also used a hand written font for my banner
and for the banner on my blog.

Bank Gothic and Arial are two very structured fonts and contrast well to the scratched handwritten font that I created myself. The fonts i have chosen to use fit well to the spooky effect that my event is based around.

Adding Gadgets

As you can see, I have added Gadgets with links down the right hand side of my blog...
The top group are other students events and have links to either their blog, or their event website.

Underneath my personal profile I have created a link to Facebook (and am going to also add a link to another social networking site). The link direct you straight to an events page on Facebook advertising the event I am hosting.

My website

Style of website-GRUNGE

As my event has a spooky feel to it, I feel that the grunge style will be most appropriate.

This is a background template that I have adapted that i plan to use when developing my website.

Here I have applied the background and began working on the design on my wedbsite using Adobe dreamweaver. I am going to download a grunge font to use on the main heading and then I need to choose a well suited secondary and tertiary font for the rest of the information. I may use the same primary and seconday font for things like headings and links to new pages.

Flash workshop

Week One

Using auto script we dictated movement, scale, rotation and the anchoring of very simple objects and text to create an organised design

Week two we used autoscript to create buttons giving the buttons mouse actions.

Mouse over- changed the word up to over

Mouse down- cue for motion to start

Mouse up- stopped any motion

Week 3- again using action script created a short introduction animation with 3 buttons, one to play animation again, one a menu button and the other a link to a new page. on the second page, made a back button.... idea on how a website would work.

Dreamweaver

Using Dreamweaver was much easier than I first thought, the template was already in place for us yet in comparison to Weebly there were much fewer restrictions.

On photoshop I created a grunge looking background to place into Dreamweaver. Using a template we added some pre existing text to create an example website for some kind of event.

The background is in the form of grunge style, using old, worn vintage looking objects- could be ideal of my project... my event has a spooky feel about it in which grungge style would be appropriate.

Using FLASH... Week 1

This was my first time using flash so the programme was completely new to me!

BUT!

I managed to create this banner, using an image from the internet and some text...

This technique could be useful in making banner advertisements for my events to promote on other websites... eg Facebook, Twitter or any other social network/ urban event websites.

I also created this individual webpage background using Flash.

Using Weebly...

I began to create a website using Weebly. It is very basic and easy to use yet it feels a bit to me like you are restricted slightly to template layouts.

After choosing a template, I measure the size of the image space and created a banner image for the top of the web page

I added 5 pages to my wesite and kept to a particular colour theme and particular fonts. The wesite allowed me to add contact sheets, with required or unrequired filed options as well as images, videos and custom html. However I do not feel like this technique looks most proffesional.

Back on Track...

I was having a discussion with a family member, and they asked me if I'd seen a Robbie Williams concert where he asks everyone there on the count of 3 to take a picture with the flash on on their cameras, in the dark...

Here it is...

This really appealed to me...

I have developed an idea for my flashmob event influenced by this video clip and the use of light being effective in the dark.

As halloween is only round the corner, I've decided to give my flash mob a spooky twist,

The event will be based on a steep hill, maybe the one in Greenwich park would be ideal. Each person will hold a torch up to their chin and, on the count of 3, switch it on exposing a scary face, just like this....

Its not going to work....

After assessing the process that would be needed to commit the event of my previous post, i decided that the arrangement for the event would be far too excessive in the area of administration and therefore the term flashmob would not be suited to the event.

Change of Plan...

I've come to the conclusion that the most predictable events are those that include some kind of dance which children arent often invloved in... I want to move away from this, and so have decided to do something more artistsic, that people of all ages can take part in.

The idea is to make some kind of image that can only be recognised from an ariel view. The image will be made up of people wearing certain coloured t-shirts and given designated places to stand. Obviosly familys with elderly or young members will be given priority to grouped colour areas.

Here is a small scale example of this used in a Talk Talk advert....

I also found a clip on youtube showing the full length advert.

I think that if i try to make a moving image, things may become too complicated and would be difficult to assemble using members of the public...

So... i need to decide on a composition that could be very large scale yet reasonably easy to organise, made of basic shapes and colours.

My Ideas

The idea of the supermarket flash mob video clip that i posted earlier is something i find quite amusing. I am particularly interested in the idea of freezing for no reason in a random public area.

However I am also interested in the idea of having a particular theme where everyone wears a similar outfit. for example... Cowboy's. Everyone would turn up to the same designated area wearing outfits to fit the themes.

I would like to consider combining aspects of both of the ideas together however I am worried that it will be too much.
Pop- up restaurants

Is the new craze to hit London where people open their own homes as restaurants for an evening. There are no flashy signs advertising the events, it is all known about by internet invites (through social networking) and word of mouth.

Here is a news article I found explaining the new craze in more detail and i found quite helpful....

The pop- up restaurant seems to have been a big hit in the news with a lot of searches I have conducted have resulted in the feeding of news articles on the event.

Week 1- Introduction to the brief.

Researching Flashmob, Apero géant, pop-up resturant, secret gigs, art auctions...

Flashmob

The definition of a flash mob, as stated on Wikipedia, is 'a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual and pointless act for a brief time, then disperse. The term flash mob is generally applied only to gatherings organized via telecommunications, social media, or viral emails. The term is generally not applied to events organised by public relations firms, protests, and publicity stunts.' (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flash_mob)

In some cases, Flash mob events can be staged, for example, the T-mobile advertising campaign, here is a video clip I found on youtube.com showing the process of how the event was organised and developed...

However on many occasions Flash mobs can be spontaneous on the spot decisions to perform a large scale and random event in a public area....

I found some clips on youtube as I was exploring different types of activities people used to organise a flash mob event.

Supermarket flashmob- In this clip you see people walking around a supermarket and all of a sudden freeze. i particularly like this idea as it is humorous and and the same time would make you feel slightly anxious at the reason the people around you had all of a sudden stopped moving.

Themed flash mobs-Some flash mobs can have themes, be it from a film, a colour, a look/style, a culture or an era.

I found this Flash mob event where everyone turned up to 'fight' with light sabres...

I also found this clip which shows a Bollywood hero themed event.
